This study was undertaken in an effort to provide answers to two questions brought up by a thoughtful reading of some of Lewis's novels. How does Lewis feel about marriage? What is Lewis's attitude toward women and their role in twentieth century society? In his novels Lewis presents many different types of women in different situations, who react differently to their situations.
