The subjects used in this study were 300 entering freshman males at the University of North Carolina; the configuration of scales 3(Hy) and 4(Pd) of the MMPI was used as a measure of passive versus aggressive mode of expression. Scores on the Scholastic Aptitude Test were used as a covariable; GPA after the freshman year was the dependent measure of academic performance.
