The purpose of this investigation was to assess the effect of a brief session of meditation on various aspects of martial arts performance in experienced kickboxers including reaction time, strike accuracy, and self-efficacy. Methods: Aspects of martial arts performance were examined in a crossover study design consisting of 12 participants who underwent a control trial and a trial of meditation during sessions assessing the variables of self efficacy, strike accuracy, and reaction time. Results: Following the performance of three two way time by condition ANOVA's, no significant results were seen between the control and experimental session (p<.05). Conclusion: a brief session of meditation does not improve self-efficacy, strike accuracy, or reaction time in experienced kickboxers.
