The High Rocks Educational Corporation, more commonly known as High Rocks for Girls, is a model for feminist action and community development in rural areas of the Appalachian region. Operating from their location in Pocahontas County, West Virginia, High Rocks provides intensive summer camps, academic enrichment and tutoring, service-learning projects, weekly mentoring calls, educational and college trips, and post-graduate advising. All High Rocks programs are free of charge for young women in Pocahontas, Nicholas, and Greenbrier Counties. Beyond its rural locale, High Rocks has an extended network of alumni, volunteers, partners, and funders that add to the diversity, sustainability, and viability of the organization.
