Within the works of Andrew Marvell, there exists a fascination with relationship between humans and nature. Such a relationship results, in many cases, in the modification of nature, but through an application of queer ecological theory to several poems by Marvell, notions of anthropocentrism and heteronormative sexual are elucidated as negatives in the garden-states Marvell imagines. In interrogating such themes, it becomes clear that Marvell appears to be grappling with our complex and often confusing notions of sexuality, and the potential manifestations sexuality has on nature and our desires.
