Long coiled-coil proteins are predicted to be involved in photosynthesis, cytokinesis or plant defense mechanisms via protein-protein interactions. Arabidopsis thaliana Matrix Attachment Region- Binding Filament-like Protein 1 (MFP1) is a plant-specific, long coiled-coil protein initially believed to be localized in the nuclear matrix but later found to be embedded in the thylakoid membrane of the chloroplast. The exact function of MFP1 is unknown and my goal is to purify and analyze chloroplast-localized MFP1 complex by Tandem-Affinity Purification-Mass Spectrometry method.
