Physical and psychological well-being in older persons is a matter of great social as well as personal concern. Chronic illness affects an older person's performance of basic tasks of living and social roles. Failure in these areas tends to affect self-evaluation and happiness . . . The relationships among subjective and the following factors were investigated in a study of 25 chronically ill older persons residing in two intermediary care facilities: perceived health, activities of daily living (respondent and staff ratings), environmental constraint, developmental task accomplishment, and locus of control.
